Allison Sebastiani-Rodriguez (she/her) is a postpartum doula based in Brooklyn, NY.

She is a first-generation Peruvian-American and was born and raised in Hudson County, NJ. (Habla español!)

Professionally, she is a seasoned product management leader with 9+ years in the tech industry. Her journey into parenthood sparked a profound shift in her life, inspiring her to curate postpartum offerings that go beyond traditional doula support for working parents in the NYC area.

When she is not doula’n, she’s likely playing dance freeze with her son or listening to a true crime podcast.

Values

  • With my work, I firmly believe in the right of every individual to parent with dignity in safe and nurturing environments.

  • My work is an embodiment of love— care, commitment, knowledge, responsibility, and profound respect for our ancestors, ourselves, and, most importantly, the future: our children.

  • Each of us holds the power to activate change. Our collective responsibility is to break free from systems that hinder our connection to the Earth, our passions, and our community.

  • Let go of the unnecessary chaos. Focus on configuring your life for meaningful moments, like having dinner together or creating memories on your next family vacation. Prioritize what truly matters over the trivial aspects of daily life.

My Secret Sauce

Professional Background

I solve real problems in a research-backed environment, based on collaboration, and focused on the “why”.

I am a product management leader with nine years of experience building and growing B2B products, teams, and processes at early and growth-stage companies. I’m skilled at leading cross-functional teams in rapidly changing environments with a natural bias for people-centricity. I’ve built software solutions used by Fortune 500 companies such as Northwestern Mutual, UnitedHealth, and Uber.

Personal Experience

I’m a mother to a hilarious and sweet toddler.

My parenting philosophy is rooted in attachment, respect, and play. I don't follow any particular approach; I am navigating my parenting journey by following my maternal instincts and embracing learnings that feel right to us.

Here are some books that have been incredibly helpful in my journey:

  • Heng Ou’s The First Forty Days: The Essential Art of Nourishing the New Mother

  • Kimberly Johnson’s The Fourth Trimester: A Postpartum Guide to Healing Your Body, Balancing Your Emotions, and Restoring Your Vitality

  • Dr. Deborah MacNamara’s Rest, Play, Grow

New Yorker

I have lived in the NYC area for most of my life.

I have a deep love for this city and a strong passion for fostering connections and building community for families.

The birth worker community in this city has truly amazed me. I found incredible connections as I searched for doulas, midwives, acupuncturists, placenta keepers, and more. These folks' kindness, generosity, and genuine care validated the power of community, especially during such a sacred time in life.

As New Yorker parents, we face a unique set of challenges. Raising a child requires a support system, but we tend to carry robustly independent lives here, likely far from any family to help support us in this new chapter. We’re always on the go, but we hardly need car seats and often face unexpected walkups or out-of-service elevators. Children need to play, but we have limited space in our apartments. The list continues.

Yes, it’s hard, but not impossible. I’m here to serve as a safe space for you and your family and guide you through growing your family here. (Trust me, it’s absolutely worth it.)

Land

Acknolwedgment

As a doula serving the vibrant NYC community, I respectfully and gratefully acknowledge the ancestral lands of the Lenape people, known as Lenapehoking, on which I live and work. Their stewardship of this land for countless generations is deeply appreciated, and the injustices of colonization are honored and remembered.
